Jeremy Reynolds may have started endurance after wife, Heather, but he quickly showed his competitive aptitude for the sport. Reynolds, aged 30, now has 18 horses in training in San Jose, California, under Reynolds Racing. Reynolds, also a farrier by trade, has been riding since his early teens and took up endurance nine years ago. He enjoys running to keep in shape when not riding.

Reynolds' riding resume includes two Tevis Cup wins: 2004 in a ride time of 15:50 and 2007 in a time of 14:28. He also won the Haggin Cup in 2004. His competition mount for WEG is Sir Smith (Virgule Al Maury x Amenn), a flashy chestnut bred for racing by Bill Waldron. Reynolds has been riding Smitty for five years and his success includes a third at the arduous Biltmore ride in 2008 in a ride time of 10:32 and a 2010, 8:50 ride time finish in the hot desert of Abu Dhabi.

Two months later, Smitty won the 2010, 100-mile Git R Done California ride in a time of 8:06 and received Best Condition. Reynolds said his mount ?gives me 110% every day and listens like a friend?.
