Unlike many able-bodied professional horsemen and women, I don't support myself in the horse industry; I have a ?day job.?? I work for Starbucks Coffee Company. I came back from trials and got the warmest welcome from my morning crew and customers.? I have a group of regulars that come in every morning for coffee and conversation.? They threw me a fantastic and touching welcome back; I received two beautiful hand drawn cards and have received the name ?Starbucks Coffee and Dressage Princess.?? They jokingly told me that it should be announced at horse shows as HRH The Starbucks Dressage Princess accompanied by Lord Ludger?quite regal and quite a name to live up to.? I hope Lolu and I are up for the challenge. Starbucks is also one of my main sponsors leading up to and through the 2012 Paralympic Games.? The company was awesome and let me take two weeks to prepare and compete at the trials and National Selection Trials.? I have been playing a little catch up since.? Training has been going well.? My trainer and I gave LoLu an easy week after selections to let him have time to ?be a horse.? It is going to be an intense summer of training, travel, and showing, and we try to allow him some downtime when our schedule permits. Things are picking up again.? We are doing three local shows to keep him on his toes before heading to USET Headquarters in Gladstone, NJ, for Para-boot camp before flying out for London. Now,? back to my "royal duties"--making coffee and barn chores! :)
