Emily Von Urff Receives 2014 US National Junior Hunter Championships Grant

Each year a grant of $1,000 is awarded to a Junior Hunter Finals competitor. The grant is for educational purposes, and this year it goes Emily Von Urff of West Chester, Pa. Emily competed at the US Junior Hunter Championships East Coast in the newly added 3’3” Junior Hunter division with her own horse, Defying Gravity.

The grant is awarded to the applicant who constructs the best essay detailing how their competitive experience has affected them, and what it would mean to be awarded the grant. The winner is selected by United States Equestrian Federation staff members, and they were impressed with lines from Emily’s essay like this:

“The horse show experience has changed my life by giving me just another thread of life. I no longer just eat, sleep, and breathe; I ride.”
