WEG Techies, rejoice! A wonderful thing happened in Lexington on Saturday: an Apple retail store opened in the Fayette Mall! This means that everyone who buys new Apple equipment before they make the trip to WEG will be able to get tech help or buy accessories, or who knows? you might be inspired to buy some new equipment while you are there. I know the journalists will breathe a sigh of relief, since so many of us use Apple laptops and iPhones.

The Fayette Mall is at 3401 Nicholasville Rd off New Circle Road; the Apple Store is near Macy's. The current hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily except Sunday, when the store is open from noon to 6 p.m. By fall, the hours may be different. The new store offers all the usual classes, accessories, the Genius Bar, personal shopping, and free noodling with the cool stuff.

Did people line up for the opening of the new store as is the tradition for store openings around the country and the world? You bet they did!

You'll probably see me there during WEG. I'm sure the store will be a big draw for foreign visitors, too.

Both Apple and PC computers have traditionally been sold and serviced at the locally-owned Computers Plus store in Lexington, which is near the Apple Store off Nicholasville Road. I spoke with them today; they sounded really nice and said they are looking forward to meeting the challenges of all the equipment needs of WEG visitors and exhibitors and press! Just remember that Computers Plus closes an hour earlier than the mall, at 8 p.m.
