October 24, 2011--The prestigious Pennsylvania National Horse Show came to a close on Saturday, and SBS Farms left with numerous victories for Jennifer Alfano. The talented professional rider and trainer showed several mounts during prominent event, competing against top professionals all vying for the top honors in their respective divisions. Alfano brought home the High Performance Working Hunter Championship title aboard SBS' Jersey Boy, winning over the judges with their beautiful rounds.

The duo has built a wide-ranging hunter record during their time together, winning events such as the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby at the Devon Horse Show for two consecutive years as well as their recent reserve championship honors at the Capital Challenge Horse Show in Marlboro, MD. The championship award for their efforts in the High Performance Working Hunter division is the most recent addition to their numerous accolades.

Alfano and Jersey Boy secured the championship honors for the division after winning two first place ribbons and a second place ribbon over fences, as well as completing a beautiful round in the High Performance Working Hunter Handy class earning the top honors. The pair was awarded the championship tricolor for their tremendous effort throughout the week.

"Jersey Boy was awesome at Harrisburg," described Alfano. "He was great each and every time we went in the ring. He won three classes and was second, so I was so happy with his consistency. He was on point on his game every time he walked through the gate."

Alfano also showed Helen Lenahan's Miss Lucy to the reserve championship honors in the Second Year Green Hunter division. Their efforts earned the talented pair a first, second, third and fourth place ribbon over fences. As the division came to a close, Alfano and Miss Lucy were presented with the reserve championship tricolor.

"Miss Lucy missed being champion by only one point," explained Alfano. "She was super reliable and went great every time, she had beautiful rounds and I was really pleased with our results this week."

Rose Hill took home the third place ribbon with Alfano in the irons during the First Year Green Hunters, earning a score of 80 and impressing the judges. Alfano also showed one of the most recent additions to the SBS Farms horses, Maggie May, owned by Billie H. Steffee, to the seventh place finish in the Pre-Green 3'3" Hunter Stake against 27 of the top competitors. "I was really pleased with Rosie and Maggie, they are both green and there were some mistakes, but they did great," said Alfano. "Maggie is so green, and with this only being her fourth horse show, it was a lot to ask of her, but she really pulled through."

Grace Weidner also competed at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, securing the tenth place position in the Donna Richardson Equitation Schooling class aboard BTRC's Serato against 57 competitors. The talented rider is looking forward to competing at the upcoming ASPCA Alfred B. Maclay Finals at the Alltech National Horse Show on Sunday, November 6, 2011.

"I thought that all of the horses were fantastic at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show. Hopefully the horses will be fresh for the Alltech National Horse Show in two weeks," concluded Alfano.
