April 27, 2010 — Active Interest Media’s Equine Network recently announced the winners of its Practical Horseman Ireland Riding Vacation Sweepstakes and Horse & Rider Wyoming Riding Vacation Sweepstakes.

Cheryl Coville of Delanson, N.Y., was selected as the grand-prize winner of the Ireland sweepstakes, from over 7,000 entries. Coville won a 3-day, 4-night Ring of Kerry Trail Ride in Killarney, Ireland, from High Pointe International Equestrian Tours, and airfare from Aer Lingus. Accompanying Coville as her travelling and riding companion will be her husband, Brian.

Coville is a long-time horse enthusiast. She owns seven Thoroughbreds and a Thoroughbred/Irish Draught cross foal on her small farm outside Albany, N.Y. Coville spends her time training in the ring and trail riding.

As the second and third-prize winners in the Ireland sweepstakes, respectively, Lisa Gammil of Smithfield, Va., received a pair of Dubarry Galway Boots, while Michelle Brogan of Mantua, Ohio, won a Rambo Newmarket Fleece.

As the grand-prize winner of the Wyoming Riding Vacation Sweepstakes, Dixie Lee West of Solgonachia, Ark., won a seven-day ride for two with Blue Sky Sage Horseback Adventures near Jackson, Wyo. She will be bringing her husband, Chris, on one of the Mustang Horse Adventure weeks.

“Chris is mainly a trail rider, but he enjoys most everything ‘horsey’ and is also my biggest support in whatever new adventure I take on,” she said.

Raised in southern California, West got her first pony when she was 4 and rode in her first gymkhana at age 7. She rides and shows Western, calling barrel racing her sport of choice, and she also raises American Quarter Horses.
