Electrolyte Supplement

Some recommend electrolyte supplements to help your hardworking horse fight dehydration. The orally administered Re-Store from Prime Performance Nutrition may be administered before and after a strenuous ride to stave off problems, or to help relieve symptoms in a horse in the midst of a tying-up episode following exercise. The paste contains a combination of electrolytes, amino acids, vitamins, and glucosamine to replenish losses after strenuous activity; plus vitamin E and selenium to aid muscle recovery. Available in one- or two-dose packages.

Cost: $5.95 (one-dose, 30cc package), $9.95 (two-dose, 60cc package).
Contact: Prime Performance Nutrition, (888) 457-4235; www.primeperformancenutrition.com.
