Get Your Horse in Practical Horseman’s Conformation Clinic

Guidelines for submiitting your horse to Practical Horseman magazine's Conformation Clinic.

Sample Conformation Clinic Photo

To enter your horse, send a clear color photograph to Conformation Clinic, e-mail a 4x6 or larger horizontal image at high resolution (300 dpi) to practical.horseman@equinetwork.com. You may also send a print to Practical Horseman, 656 Quince Orchard Rd., Suite 600, Gaithersburg, MD 20878. Include your horse's age, breed, gender and primary discipline(s). If taken professionally, please include the photographer's name and contact information.

The photo should be taken from the side with the horse, wearing a bridle, standing on level ground looking straight ahead and the photographer standing opposite his middle. The legs closest to the camera should be straight up and down, with the off front leg back a little and the off hind leg slightly forward. See photo at right for an example.

For Conformation Clinic judge Julie Winkel's explanation of the criteria she uses to evaluate conformation, go to A Conformation Judge's Philosophy.
