Charlotte Jacobs Triumphs at Maclay Zone 1 Regionals

Charlotte Jacobs earned a coveted spot to the Maclay Finals in November.

September 24, 2013–Sunday, September 22, 2013 was an exciting day for the EQUUS Foundation and the 63 young equestrians competing in the Maclay Regionals at the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, Connecticut.

The EQUUS Foundation was confirmed as the charitable beneficiary of the Fairfield County Hunt Club June Benefit Horse Show which will be held Tuesday through Saturday, June 17-21, 2014.

“We are so deeply grateful to the Hunt Club for their continued generosity and thrilled to learn the news at the prestigious Maclay Regionals,” said Lynn Coakley, EQUUS Foundation President.

The Fairfield County Hunt Club was selected as the host of this competition showcasing the top junior equestrians in Region 1 for the first time this year. Brenda Tananbaum coordinated the Regionals on behalf of the Club, along with Wynatte Chu, to ensure that the facility was top notch. The Maclay Zone 1 Qualifiers were able to warm up in the Fairfield Equine Associates Medal on Saturday before vying on Sunday for a coveted slot at Maclay Finals to be held at the Alltech National Horse Show to be held in Lexington, Kentucky on Sunday, November 3, 2014.

Fairfield Equine Associates also hosted a reception on Saturday evening for the competitors, their families and the trainers. Other major sponsors included Taylor Harris Insurance, R.J. Classic, Equine Tack and Nutritionals, Nutrena, W.J. Barry Horse Transportation, Dover Saddlery, and Ridgefield Supply.

Ten of the 63 received ribbons including Jacobs. Jacobs is trained by Missy Clark and John Brennan of North Run along with 4th place rider Kendra Gierkink and 10th place finisher Rebekah Chenelle. The second place reserve champion went to Hannah Patten trained by Monty Kelly with Sydney Shulman completing the top three. Madeleine Swem trained by Bronwyn Anderson claimed 5th place. Three riders trained by Tim Kees placed 6th through 8th – Mimi Chiquet, Heather Flynn and Ali Tritschler. Allison Toffolon trained by Andre Dignelli placed 9th.
