A 2001 Hanoverian filly, named Daphene, set USDF records when she was registered by her owner, Marty Hunt, an adult amateur from La Cynge, Kansas.
Marty Hunt is a Participating Member as well as a member of the Kansas City Dressage Society. Marty hopes to show her young horse in-hand in the future, and is among the growing number of sport horse enthusiasts in the USDF Dressage Sport Horse Breeding Program.
“It is very appropriate that this record-setting horse is a prospect for the Cosequin/USDF Dressage Sport Horse Breeders’ Championship series. This is our fastest-growing program, and we are very optimistic about the positive impact it will have on the quality of horses produced in America,” said Sarah Jane Martin, Executive Director.
The USDF registered 3,463 dressage horses in 2000, and the number of new horses registered per year has grown 78% since 1995.
A chestnut with a blaze, two hind stockings and left front pastern, Daphene is just three weeks old. She is sired by Davignport, and the dam’s sire is Dederick. The breeder was Angela Barilar, of Maryland.
To honor this special occasion, Marty Hunt will receive a special commemorative certificate and a gift package from USDF, including a copy of USDF’s video, Showing Your Sport Horse In-Hand.
