Although his two-time Olympic team gold medal winning mount, Sapphire, was out of action for most of 2011, McLain Ward was the highest-ranked U.S. rider internationally. He earned third place in the standings with the help of Antares F and a string of great campaigners. Together with Beezie Madden, first on the U.S. list with Coral Creek Via Volo; Pan American Games double gold medalist Christine McCrea with Romantovich Take One and Kent Farrington with Uceko, he contributed to the Pan Am team gold that qualified U.S. show jumping for the London Olympics.
