U.S. Nations Cup Team Ready in Bratislava

Five top horse-and-rider combinations will represent the U.S. at the CSIO3* Bratislava, August 1-4, in Bratislava, Slovakia.

August 1, 2013 — Five top horse-and-rider combinations will represent the U.S. at the CSIO3* Bratislava, August 1-4, in Bratislava, Slovakia. Kirsten Coe, Meagan Nusz, Catherine Pasmore, Quentin Judge, and Paige Johnson hope to produce strong performances and claim a win in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup.

The U.S. has drawn eighth in the order for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup on Friday. Four of the five following combinations will represent the U.S. in the feature class of the CSIO3* Bratislava.

Coe (Royal Palm Beach, Fla.) will use the experience she earned riding in the 2011 and 2012 Rolex/FEI World Cup Finals to guide Ilan Ferder’s 2002 Belgian Warmblood gelding Calypso. The pair finished second in the $50,000 RBC Financial Group Cup in June at the Spruce Meadows ‘Canada One’ CSI-W 4*.

With Amalaya Investments’ Dynamo, Nusz (The Woodlands, Texas) plans to have continued success with the 2003 Belgian Warmblood gelding. The pair won the Commonwealth Grand Prix at the Kentucky Spring Horse Show and had a third-place finish $35,000 RBC Capital Markets Winning Round.

Pasmore (Wellington, Fla.) will ride Pasmore Stables, LLC’s Bonanza Van Paemel and Zaragosa this week, both of whom she has found success with. Last month at the Mons Ghlin CSI4*, she and the 2004 Dutch Warmblood gelding Zaragosa finished in fifth place in a CSI4* class. With Bonanza Van Paemel, a 2001 Belgian Warmblood gelding, Pasmore then finished in fifth place in the Gran Premio LGT Private Banking class at the Ascona CSI3*.

Judge (Wellington, Fla.) will ride Double H Farm’s HH Dark de la Hart in Bratislava. He and the 2003 Belgian Warmblood stallion won the $35,000 Husky Energy Classic at Spruce Meadows during the ‘Continental’ CSIO-W 5*Tournament on the strength of going double clear with fast times. The pair aims to keep up their winning form over the weekend.

Rounding out the U.S. effort is Johnson (The Plains, Va.) and Salamander Farm’s Dakota. With the 2003 Belgian Warmblood mare, Johnson finished tenth in the $25,000 Spring 2 Grand Prix at the Equestrian Sport Productions, LLC. Spring 2 Horse Show. The pair hopes to peak in Slovakia this week.

Kent Farrington will serve as Chef d’Equipe.
