Webcast Raises $10,000 for U.S. Para Equestrian Team

Alltech, Horse Radio Network and the U.S. Para Equestrian Association raise $10,000 for the U.S. para team's journey to the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games.

June 11, 2010 -- Alltech joined Horse Radio Network and the U.S. Para Equestrian Association to produce a live web-broadcast event on June 8 that raised more than $10,000 for the U.S. Para Equestrian Team in its journey to the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. The webathon was carried live on www.alltech.com and more than 35 other websites.

The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, a mere 106 days away, will mark the first time that the Games has included the para-equestrian discipline. This sport allows riders with physical challenges to compete in dressage, which, with its celebration of intricate, choreographed movements and harmony, is considered a ballet of horse and rider.

The webathon was hosted by Glenn the Geek and Samantha Clark of Horse Radio Network and U.S. Para Team hopeful Susan Treabess. Over the course of the two-hour event, they were joined by a number of global equestrian stars who called in to voice their support for the para-equestrian athletes.

A video of the evening is available on www.alltech.com and donations are still being accepted at www.uspea.org. All monies raised go directly to the United States Para Equestrian Association to offset the cost of the 10 U.S. athletes and their horses' participation in the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. Most of the competitors are faced with the challenge of raising their own support, which is approximately $20,000 per athlete for the American team.
