Starting on September 13, HRTV will begin airing 13 weekly shows on which 100 finalists will perform to capture your heart and vote. Each week’s episode will showcase several finalists. The show is presented by ACTHA and will be aired on HRTV, to find America’s Favorite Trail Horse. To cast your vote, go to www.actha.us.
Six months ago, the American Competitive Trail Horse Association (ACTHA) launched a nationwide search for America’s Favorite Trail Horse, to be aired on HRTV, as a way to bring attention to the country’s fine and noble trail horse who has served this nation so magnificently.
Nearly 900 horses put their best hoof forward and showed their talents in 24 auditions in 18 states; 100 were selected to go to the finals, America’s Favorite Trail Horse, launched by ACTHA, at the Franklin Family Ranch near Austin Texas, May 8th to the 12th.
There, they received a little coaching from some of the nation’s top trainers, so they could look their very best for the cameras, and your vote.
Now, it’s up to you! One hundred finalists representing 36 states and 25 breeds will compete for their share of $100,000. Tune in, then vote at www.actha.us.
Would you like to see your horse on TV? Send ACTHA a short video or a photo of your horse with kids or pets, or simply doing something funny or interesting. To enter, go to www.actha.us, and click on “America’s Favorite Trail Horse.” The winning videos and photos will be aired during the 13th episode; the winners will receive prizes.

Apologies to Theresa Falzone but I can’t see anything remotely ‘trail horse’ about that picture. Surely America can offer a far more appropriate photo to showcase their best trail horses.
I’m sure your photo is an attempt to woo viewers, but as an experienced trail rider I would never want to ride a horse acting like the one in your photo. It is disappointing that you would use such a staged example of a non-trail type event to promote your “reality” show that is supposed to be about a sport I love.
I think I will skip watching it.
not chosen by us but it is kinda fun…lighten up and watch the show…its good for trail riding and fun!
Tom
Not a common move…but nice to know if needed its there. This is a Lipizzan and she’s having fun…so be it…its up to America. However it is interesting to note this maneuver was used to ward off predators in days of old as well as a war time skill…so if you meet a unfriendly Czar or bear in the trail it could stretch!
Enjoy…Tom
I had the privilege of meeting this rider at an ACTHA event, her horse Zeema exemplifies the versatility of this great breed. He is a phenomenal trail horse, does search and rescue, and helps children learn about history at a local museum where he and his owner share stories in period costumes. If you saw Theresa and Zeema on the trail, you would without a doubt KNOW why they are a perfect candidate to represent who could become America’s Favorite Trail Horse.
hugs to Theresa and Zeema, hope you win!!
I attended an ACTHA ride this weekend and saw Zeema and Theresa in action. He is a multi-talented horse and well deserves to be in the running for America’s Favorite Trail Horse. He rares when he’s ASKED, not because HE chooses to. A total gentleman!
