AQHYA Camp It Up!

The American Quarter Horse Youth Association invites local kids to the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum for its annualĀ Camp It Up! summer program.

The American Quarter Horse Youth Association invites local kids to the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame & Museum for its annual Camp It Up! summer program.

Camp It Up! has three sessions this summer. Horseology 101 is June 6-10 from 8 a.m. to noon for kids ages 8 to 11. The cost for this session is $60. This session will teach basic facts about horses, such as care, feeding and riding, through the use of exciting educational tools. The kids will have the opportunity to watch a farrier work with a real American Quarter Horse, learn about horse diseases by a veterinarian and ride a real horse. Register your kids today for one or all of the week-long camp sessions.

Horseology 102 is June 27-July 1 from 8 a.m. to noon for kids ages 8 to 11. The participants must attend 101 prior to 102. This session costs $60 and will offer the kids a more in-depth idea of what makes a horse tick. This session will take the kids on a tour of the West Texas A&M University Equestrian Center, watch a live adjustment by an equine chiropractor and learn all about competition from a racing trainer.

Session 3, Horseology Careers Camp, is July 11-15 from 8 a.m. to noon for kids ages 9 to14. The cost is $100. This camp inspires horse-crazy kids to start thinking about the kinds of careers available in the horse industry. Not only will they learn all about AQHA, they will also tour different veterinary clinics, race training barns and even a saddle shop! Each Camp It Up! session is loaded with information, hands-on projects and live horses.
