Linda Tellington-Jones is perhaps best known for her revolutionary Tellington Method, which uses bodywork known as TTouch (pronounced “tee-touch”) to influence the horse’s behavior, performance, and ability to learn.
Here, Tellington-Jones offers two anecdotes on how TTouch has helped horses during an emergency. (To find out how TTouch can literally be lifesaving on a trail ride when you and your horse are far from veterinary assistance, and how to perform several TTouches, see “A Touch of Healing,” Safe & Sound, The Trail Rider, July/August ’10.)
Important note: If your horse suffers from a serious condition, call your veterinarian immediately.
Anecdote #1: Colic

Several years ago, horse owner Peggy Leach attended the Western States Horse Expo in Sacramento, California, and watched one of Tellington-Jones’s presentations. Sometime later, she and her husband were camping in the Sierra Nevada Mountains when her mare, Sienna, colicked.
Leach and her husband performed Belly Lifts. The mare quickly recovered and had no further problems with colic during the camping trip.
Anecdote #2: Shock
