Thanks to a new scholarship opportunity from Stephens College, one female Pinto Horse Association of America youth member will have a chance at furthering not only her education, but also her future in the equine industry.

Stephens College is offering an incoming freshman female who is also a PtHA youth member an opportunity to obtain an equestrian-based liberal arts education by offering a $5,000 equestrian leadership scholarship. The scholarship will allow the female youth member to study at Stephens College and pursue a degree in Equestrian studies. Located in Columbia, Mo., Stephens College has been educating women since 1833 and offers students a liberal arts background with preparation for careers in the equine world.

Pinto youth members that are interested in applying for the Stephens scholarship can fill out the application online at www.pinto.org/youth and return it to the PtHA. Potential recipients will then apply to the Stephens equestrian program in addition to applying for admissions to Stephens College. The applications will be evaluated on the best fit for the program. Program leaders will look for applicants with a passion for all things horse related, academically-oriented students that are interested in all phases of growth and development, community minded, solid work ethic, and a desire to explore a profession in the equine industry.

To be considered for the 2011-2012 academic year, interested applicants must apply for the Stephens College scholarship by Feb. 25. Applications must come through the PtHA in order to be eligible. For more information on how to apply for the scholarship, contact the PtHA at (405) 491-0111, or email tmathiews@pinto.org.
