Beezie Madden: An Update on the Competition

Hi everyone,

Thanks for all of the support and well wishes over the last few days. I am really pleased with Via after our ride yesterday, only 4 faults. I am very thankful for my great teammates, as well. McLain had 4 faults at the water, Rich and Flexible were clear and Reed had 8 faults. We dropped the 8 faults to finish with 12 faults as a team. Saudi Arabia is in the lead with 1 fault! The competition is really tight for today’s team finals – less than 2 rails separate all of the teams competing. I am expecting a very tough course today from Bob Ellis the course designer. As the last two days have proven though – everyone has a shot to win gold today and be the best. One of the great things about our sport is that on any given day – anyone can win.

Two teams are down to just 3 riders (Canada and Brazil) which means they have no room for errors. This is definitely a disadvantage but certainly not impossible. The British are looking very strong and have a lot of hometown support. The crowds have been huge and so exciting to hear and see. London has done a beautiful job showcasing the equestrian sports.

Via felt great yesterday and did some hand walking yesterday afternoon. We are looking forward to getting back into the ring today.

Beezie
