Olympic Eventing: Team Australia Named

Equestrian Australia’s selection committee for the Eventing discipline has identified the five horse and rider combinations to be nominated to the Australian Olympic Committee for selection to the 2012 Australian Olympic Team.

The five athletes and their horses are: Andrew Hoy with Rutherglen Andrew is a six-time Olympian (1984, 1988, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2004), triple Olympic Games gold medalist (Team Eventing – Barcelona 1992, Atlanta 1996, Sydney 2000) and Olympic Games silver medallist (Individual Eventing – Sydney 2000). Chris Burton with Holstein Park Leilani Chris represented Australia at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in 2010. This is his first nomination to the Australian Olympic Team. Clayton Fredericks with Bendigo Clayton is an Olympic Games silver medalist (Team Eventing – Beijing 2008). Lucinda Fredericks with Flying Finish Lucinda is an Olympic Games silver medalist (Team Eventing – Beijing 2008). Shane Rose with Taurus Shane is an Olympic Games silver medalist (Team Eventing – Beijing 2008). Members of Equestrian Australia?s Shadow Squad ? Eventing, were informed of the decision on Tuesday evening 19 June 2012. The selection process allows athletes a 48-hour period to lodge an appeal against the nominated team.
