Max Corcoran: Greetings from England

Max Corcoran, head groom for Olympic eventing team member Karen O'Connor, writes on her time in England as the Olympic eventing riders prepare for the Games.

July 18,2012–Greetings from Lavender Hill Stud! All is in full swing here with the U.S. eventing team! We have a great group of people, amazing facilities (thank you Edie Stibbe!) and great accommodation. The only way to make camp better would be to see the sun a bit more. Most days feel like we are at Fair Hill in the fall.

Training is going well with Mark with the additional support from Michael Barisone, Linda Zang and Lauren Hough. Horses are all on fine form enjoying the good UK ground.

We had a great school at a dressage show yesterday, getting to ride the Olympic test – and then getting to ride it again if wanted. Today, we are off to Jackdaws Castle to gallop (only 2 gallops left!) and then into London tomorrow for team processing. It feels like we’ve been waiting for it all to happen, and it will be over before we know it!

Fingers crossed all stays well for the next two weeks. We have an amazing team!

Max Corcoran is the head groom for Karen O’Connor, who will represent the U.S. in eventing at the 2012 Olympic Games on Mr. Medicott.
