Lexington’s Big Lex Becomes a Breyer Model

Big Lex, the legendary blue horse of the Bluegrass and Lexington, Kentucky?s official mascot, has earned yet another accolade. The big ?Blue Horse? will be honored as a Breyer portrait model, joining such racing legends as Secretariat, Cigar, and Seabiscuit!

?Lexington, Kentucky has been the home of BreyerFest? for 21 years so it’s fitting that Breyer would create the official model horse of Lexington, Big Lex,? said Stephanie Macejko, Vice President of Marketing and Product Development for Breyer Animal Creations. ?As an official sponsor and the creators of the Official Model Horse of the 2010 Games, we are especially pleased to strengthen our connection with the city of Lexington in this important year.?

The Big Lex figurine was sculpted in artist?s resin to resemble the original oil painting of the racehorse Lexington by renowned equine artist Edward Troye. Hand-decorated, Big Lex stands approximately 5? tall on a decorative base of painted Kentucky bluegrass. It is a classic symbol of Lexington and Lexington?s heritage as the heart and soul of the Thoroughbred racing world.

?We were so pleased to partner with Breyer to create a figurative representation of Big Lex,? said David Lord, President of the Lexington Convention and Visitors Bureau. ?BreyerFest is one of the largest events to be held in Lexington and has provided the City of Lexington with a significant economic benefit for the past twenty-one years. And now with the Big Lex model, Lexington has been honored with a Breyer portrait model of its own.?

Breyer?s Big Lex model will be available at BreyerFest and from many fine retailers in the Lexington area starting August 1st.
