Jan. 7, 2005 — The American Grand Prix Association (AGA) released the official 2005 schedule of events for this year’s tour, the nation’s richest and longest running series of equestrian show jumping events.

In its 27th year, the AGA tour includes 32 events in 22 different equestrian markets and offers over $2.5 million dollars in prize money.

When The American Grand Prix Association debuted in 1978 there were sixteen events on a tour that stopped in eight different states. In 1978, most individual events offered a total purse of only $25,000. For the 2005 season, the average prize money is over $75,000 per event.

The AGA Triple Crown features three of the nation’s premier events, the American Gold Cup in Devon, Penn., the AGA National Championships in Wellington, Fla., and the Budweiser American Invitational at Raymond James Stadium, in Tampa, Fla.

The 2005 AGA tour lifts off in Jacksonville, Fla., with the $35,000 Green Cove Springs Grand Prix-CSI* on Jan. 23 and concluded in December with the AGA National Championship CSI-3* in Wellington, Fla. Dates, prize money and locations are subject to change. Televised events will be broadcast on the Outdoor Life Network (OLN).
