Barrel Racer Cervi Wins 2009 National Finals Rodeo Average

Team Horse & Rider member Sherry Cervi wins the 2009 National Finals Rodeo barrel racing average by 0.05 seconds.

December 17, 2009 — Two-time World Champion barrel racer Sherry Cervi has claimed her second title as the National Finals Rodeo (NFR) average winner. During her 12th trip to the NFR this year, this Team eZall and Team Horse & Rider member won two go-rounds and a total of $149,099 during the 10 straight days of competition at the Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

Competing with her seven-year-old palomino mare, MP Miss Meter Hay “Stingray”, by her accomplished barrel stallion PC Frenchman’s Hayday “Dinero”, Cervi won the 5th go-round with a time of 13.6 which is a mere 8-one-hundredths of a second off the arena record. Despite lightning fast times by all competitors, Cervi’s cumulative time was 139.01 seconds which gave her a .05 second advantage over the second-place average time.

Winning $219,620 in money earnings this year places her third in the Women’s ProRodeo 2009 standings.

“In my life, I have had the good fortune of making my goals and my dreams become reality. I have set goals for myself to breed, raise and train my own horses to ultimately compete on them at the NFR and other major barrel racing and futurity events,” said Cervi.
