Equine Network Takes Home 28 Awards in 2013 American Horse Publications Annual Awards Contest

In the 2013 American Horse Publications Annual Awards Contest, the Equine Network received 28 awards including 10 first place awards.

July 15, 2013–The Equine Network’s stable of magazines, websites and associated properties received a total of 28 awards in the 2013 American Horse Publications Annual Awards Contest, including 10 first place awards. EQUUS won eight awards, Dressage Today earned five awards and Practical Horseman received four awards. Horse&Rider took home three awards, The Trail Rider won two awards and Spin To Win Rodeo collected one award.

“At the Equine Network, we strive for excellence across all of our titles and aim to serve our readership to the best of our abilities,” said General Manager Tom Winsor. “We’re honored to be recognized in front of our industry peers as leaders in equine publishing.”

Courtney King-Dye won the Alltech A+ Equine Journalism for her article “How I Came Back” published in Dressage Today in July 2012. This award is presented to the author of an article that focuses on increasing awareness and love of equestrian sport to mainstream readers.

“Getting this award means a great deal to me,” said King-Dye. “My life has always been riding. It’s what I felt made me relevant, but this award shows me that without being able to be in the saddle, I’m still able to be a contributing factor in the horse community.

“I’m especially grateful that it was this particular article that won because it utilizes the accident, which could have taken everything away from me to educate our incredible community. Any way that the effects of my injury can be made positive and beneficial gives it meaning instead of just being a tragedy. I’m honored, inspired and grateful.”
