2009 Varsity Equestrian National Championship Brackets Announced

The Varsity Equestrian Selection Committee has released the brackets for the 2009 Varsity Equestrian National Championship in Waco, Texas.

April 10, 2009 — Brackets for the Varsity Equestrian National Championship (VENC), to be held April 16-18 in Waco, Texas, were released April 9 by the Varsity Equestrian Selection Committee. The selection committee consists of coaches and administrators of universities sponsoring equestrian as well as a representative from the U.S. Equestrian Federation and the American Quarter Horse Association. Auburn (hunter seat) and Texas A&M (Western) received number one seeds for their respective divisions. Twelve teams for each of the two disciplines received invitations to the championship:

Individual competition for the four events (equitation over fences and flat and Western horsemanship and reining) increased for 4 individuals to 8 this year. Receiving number one seeds are Haylie Jayne (UGA, over fences), Megan Massaro (USC, flat), Tara Christiansen (TAMU, reining) and Caroline Gunn (TAMU, horsemanship).
